Produced from the first harvest of Chardonnay from the Rio Vista Vineyard in the Sta Rita Hills. This site is well known for Pinot Noir and is the most eastern vineyard in the appelation. It produces cool-climate Chardonnay with citrus and pear on the nose, ripe apricot, and a hint of grapefruit on the palate. It is a distinctly old world expression of Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay. Fermented cold in stainless and transferred to neutral oak for completion of primary fermentation. Full malolactic fermentation, sur lies aging, and bottled after 8 months.
Opulent and toasty aromas of baked peach, jasmine and plumeria make for a very floral and generous nose on this bottling. It's full on the palate as well, with apricot, peach, honey and pineapple flavors cruising together.
