Classically styled, cool-climate Chardonnay from the Rio Vista Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills. Lemon zest and warm toast on the nose. Vibrant acidity complemented by generous fruit and structure on the palate with a lingering finish. 2023 marks our fourth bottling from the same vineyard block on alluvial soils alongside the Santa Ynez River. Abundant rain in the winter caused the river to overflow its banks and submerge the vineyard. Harvested slightly riper this season as waiated for full ripeness before gently pressed as whole clusters, fermented cool, and finished in neutral oak barrels. The wine underwent full malolactic fermentation and aged for 10 months before bottling to preserve freshness. Will continue to pick up complexity in the bottle for the next decade.
