100% cool-climate Grenache grown in coastal Ventura County. The nose explodes with sage, plum, and dark fruits while the palate's blackberry notes are complemented by Mediterranean herb notes. A refreshingly complex spin on Grenache. Fermented with 20% stem inclusion for 14 days before pressing to barrrel and aging for 22 months. 93 PTS - International Wine Report; 92 PTS & Editor's Choice - Wine Enthusiast
Three estate-farmed sites in coastal Ventura County feed the 2024 Cavaletti Solitude Grenache, each lot taken separately with 20% whole clusters and native yeast across fourteen days, then raised twenty-two months in puncheons and barrels, 33% of them once-used French oak, before bottling without fining or filtration. Marionberry and dried strawberry come first, followed by bay leaf and star anise, and a cool gravelly note that keeps the fruit from spreading. It is medium-bodied and satiny, the tannins fine and low-slung, with enough acidity to keep the middle bright rather than broad. Dried orange peel sharpens the back half, and the fruit-forward finish tapers slowly.
