Single vineyard Grenache Blanc from Tierra Alta in Ballard Canyon. Tierra Alta is the steepest vineyard in the Ballard Canyon region and produces concentrated wines due to its low yields and meticulous hand-farming by Ivan Belfy's team at Buona Terra Farming. This is a crisp and refreshing dry white wine with citrus sorbet notes and white peach flavors finished by an oyster shell minerality. 100% Grenache Blanc from the limestone soils of Ballard Canyon picked early for balanced acidity, whole cluster pressed, and aged in stainless until bottling. 92 Points, International Wine Report
Old vines on the clay and limestone slopes of Tierra Alta Vineyard in Ballard Canyon give the 2025 Cavaletti Grenache Blanc a concentration that its yields, held under a ton per acre, would predict, and the wine carries it without any sense of strain. Whole-cluster pressed, fermented cold and slowly with malolactic blocked, then held for four months across stainless steel and neutral oak, it comes up with pomelo essence and green almond over acacia, with a faint anise lift. The palate is lean and finely grained, taut through the middle where the acidity bites, and a chalky, oyster-shell savor draws out the finish.
