Patrick Kelley

Owner/ Winegrower/ Winemaker

Cavaletti's founder

Inspired by the lost winegrowing legacy of Los Angeles County and the untapped potential of Ventura County, Patrick founded Cavaletti Vineyards in 2016.

He had an ambitious goal - to produce world class wines from this unheralded region. Using thoughtful farming, straightforward winemaking, and hard work he has created wines that have attracted attention since their first release.

Since that time he has continuously sought out new sites, reinvigorated forgotten vineyards, and feels that he has barely scratched the surface of the region's potential.

Wine is made in the vineyard

Cavaletti Vineyards produces wines that authentically express varietal character and unique vineyard sites in our region. In the vineyard we respect our natural resources and farm using sustainable and organic practices. This drive to reduce inputs and increase quality means that we work hard to understand our sites each season. We farm multiple vineyards that we believe have the potential to produce exciting wines and partner with other thoughtful farmers in our region.

When we do our work well in the vineyard we are able to do embarrassingly little in the winery. Native yeasts, neutral oak barrels, and patience are the main techniques we use to craft unique wines that are full of personality.
Our wines are released three times per year to our wine club members, made available on our website, in our winery tasting room, and offered to select retailers and restaurants.

FRIDAY - CLOSED FOR MONTH OF OCTOBER
SATURDAY 12-6 PM
SUNDAY 12-6 PM

We are a team of hands-on farmers and winemakers so there is no opulent tasting room, pretension, or estate vineyard to gaze upon. Our tastings occur in our production area and ambience may include fermenting fruit, equipment, or the occasional family dog.

People visit us because they are passionate about fine wines produced and want to experience the best wines produced in this region in a casual, relaxed manner and presented by a knowledgeable member of the team.

We welcome dogs, accompanied children, and always suggest bringing snacks or meals. The winery temperature is set to 65 degrees so a sweater or light jacket is recommended.
